Stink

I want to start sewing! I have to wait until next pay day to buy material though! Poor me :) I did pick out a color that I like...the one on the right. I think it'll look really good with the room, and it's only $4.50/yard. Now I just have to hope it's still there when I go to get it.

Fabric Swatches

I went to this website to find some fabric. It's a discount wholesale place, and I requested some swatches, so we'll see how they look. Hopefully I'll get them soon before I run out of steam!

I also tested out my beloved, 1980's Bernina sewing machine to make sure it is in good working order, and I think it passed the test! It's a beauty, isn't it!

Drab little couches

Last night I bought this couch and loveseat off KSL for $50, and having a twinge of buyers remorse because they are really quite ugly. I need some color!!!

My mission: I'd like to make my own slipcovers to cutsie them up. I'm really hesitant, but I thought if I document it then I'll be more likely to finish the project...and maybe get a little encouragement along the way! Today I did measurements to try and find out how much fabric I'd need and then compare the price to store bought slipcovers to see if this whole escapade is going to be worth it or not. I figured I'll need about 7 yards for the love seat and 10 yards for the couch. Color? I'm thinking a deep purple or sage green. What do you think?
